“The Swan” presented at 'Sculpture by the Sea' Cottesloe is a true embodiment of West Australian identity and craftsmanship. Meticulously handcrafted, it showcases the use of locally sourced aluminium from Capral, a testament to our commitment to supporting local industries.

A distinctive feature of the sculpture is the unique 'bronzing' technique developed in-house. Using resins derived from native bush plants, we have created a reflective surface that pays homage to the natural environment surrounding it.

The sculpture takes the form of a series of whimsical organic shapes suspended in the sky, elevated on six-meter vertical poles. When viewed from a specific angle, it beautifully reimagines the West Australian flag, with the majestic swan gracefully positioned on the horizon against the backdrop of a setting sun.

The bronzed panels of the sculpture bear text that carries historical significance. Referencing the secession vote of 1933, a moment when the public expressed their support for independence from the Crown, it prompts contemplation on the aspirations and collective voice of the people.

This artwork invites viewers to engage with the rich heritage and cultural narratives of Western Australia, celebrating its natural beauty and the resilient spirit of its inhabitants.
