The integrated facade sculpture, inspired by the historic Golden West soft drink factory, pays homage to the nostalgia of old soft drink labels and branding. The initial spark of creativity came from exploring the rich history of labelling and brand imagery associated with the site. Additionally, the artwork drew inspiration from Rosalie Gascoigne's masterpiece 'Scrub Country,' which utilized old packing crates in a collage-like manner.

Building upon these influences, our team delved into the vibrant colour palette and distinctive aesthetics of soda pop culture. We carefully selected and created stencils using vintage fonts and imagery that resonated with the era. Collaborating closely with ARM Architecture, we engaged in an interactive process to develop and refine the designs.

The next step involved hand-applying these graphics onto building-grade plywood. To achieve a unique visual impact, the plywood was then cut, reassembled, and collaged into circular shapes. These circular elements were carefully inset into the concrete panels, creating a visually dynamic integration of graphics and architecture. To ensure durability and longevity, the artwork was finished with a protective coating that guards against graffiti and UV damage.

The result is a stunning and evocative integration of the building's facade with the rich heritage of the Golden West soft drink factory. The artwork invites viewers to appreciate and engage with the historical significance of the site, while also celebrating the aesthetic charm of vintage soda pop culture.
