"Coffee Cups" is a vibrant and inviting sculptural installation that pays homage to the lively atmosphere of the on-site café, a true Italian gem founded by Raffaella D'Alonzo. Inspired by Raffaella's vision of a welcoming gathering place where people can connect, these functional coffee cup seats add a playful and social element to the café's surroundings.

The design of the sculptural seats captures the essence of the beloved café culture and the joy of sharing good food and coffee with friends and loved ones. Positioned adjacent to the café, these whimsical seats invite visitors to take a moment to relax, engage in conversation, and savour the delightful ambiance of the space.

The coffee cups are brought to life through a combination of materials and artistic collaboration. The process begins by shaping high-density foam into the desired cup form, creating a comfortable and visually appealing seat. These foam structures are then coated with glass-reinforced concrete, providing durability and a smooth surface.

To add a burst of colour and personality, each coffee cup seat undergoes a hand-painted finish, a collaborative effort with Lisa Pensebene, a skilled creator of bespoke ceramics and pottery. Working together, the artists infuse each cup with vibrant hues and intricate patterns, creating a delightful visual tapestry that reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the café experience.

Through its fusion of functionality and artistic craftsmanship, "Coffee Cups" serves as a joyful celebration of Italian café culture and the power of shared experiences.
