Italian cafe joins Vincent food scene

CITY OF VINCENT

Seven years ago, Raffaella D'Alonzo moved to Perth from Italy.

Ms D'Alonzo felt like Perth needed an authentic Italian place where Italians could meet and Australians could experience that vibe.

"After seven years of learning this amazing Australian culture, learning the language, making friends and having a family, my husband and I decided to open up La Mortazza," she said.

"I have a wise experience in the industry, I worked in cafes and kitchens since I was little, however, the most experience was cooking with my grandma.

"Our food is very tasty because I share my grandma recipes!"

The cafe's most popular items are their Bomba, Cannolo and Panino.

Customers can choose to enjoy their drinks, pastries or savoury treats inside, outside or in two big teacup sculptures in front of the cafe.

The teacups were designed and constructed by a group of artists including Jon Denaro and Hayley Partington who are based in Vincent's Pickle District.

La Mortazza is located at 500 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth.
